Time Flies!!!
Woah!!!! it's been over 6 months since I went under the knife and had this amazing life changing surgery! And yes its been 5 months and 19 days since I updated this blog, I know I'm horrible, though I have been busy sharing the journey over on Instagram so if you want to see some food pictures, a whole lot of workout selfies and some awesome transformation pics please go and check that out.
So whats been going on for the last 5 months and 19 days of my journey? Well I've been busy leaning the best way to use my new tool, figuring out what eating habits work best for me, that allow me to not feel sick and still have enough energy to keep up with my full time job and my 6 training sessions a week. Now don't freak out, clearly working out as full on as I do isn't the only way, but getting in your 30 minutes of something a day is important. I have just found a love for being tortured on a regular basis by my amazing and totally evil trainer whilst I call her a bitch for doing it to me 😝
Aside from that I did have some fun with specialist appointments, ct scans and neurologist appointments. Stressful times, but all is good, turns out I have a brain and its not rattling around in my little toe, go figure! I also have fluid on the brain and have to go have a lovely lumbar puncture at the end of the month, yeah not excited for that one but hopefully it will sort some things out and that't the main thing right!
Now back to weight loss news, 6 months of working out, eating small portions, eating mostly healthy foods, yes I still have some treats its not the end of the world. Anyway 6 months and I am soooo close to entering double digits, just another 2.5kg to go! that't a total of 47.6kg lost in total so far and a whopping 178cm lost. I have also gone from being firmly in the morbidly obese category to finally being simply obese! Now I don't believe in the BMI method for measuring how healthy you are but despite that I have to admit it still feels damn good to be moving down the ladder and closer to being considered healthy by it, though I am pretty confident if I ever were to get down to what it considers a healthy weight would have me looking like a skeleton, I fully intend to stick to where I feel healthy as apposed to worrying too much about what the BMI scale thinks.
Without further ado please enjoy some of my before and after pictures which have blown my mind and truly made me realize just how far I've come in a way the numbers and the mirrors couldn't.
I also treated myself to a tattoo for my progress, I drew up my concept, which included an elephant - to represent me past (being large), present (saggy skin) and future (strong and proud) with butterfly wings for ears to represent my transformation, to show I am still me but more fabulous. I also added a pop of bling in the form of a headpiece with 11 stones, representing my engagement ring and my husbands ongoing and amazing support through my journey. Finally I added a circle with roses to represent all the amazing friends and family who have surrounded me with love and support. I then got recommendations for a tattoo artist from those friends and family and had my tattoo brought to life.
So that's about it for now, I've been and had 9 vials of blood drained and will be checking in with my surgeons office soon for my 6 month follow up, hoping they are as happy with my progress as I am!! Have a great week and I will try and remember to check in again before letting another 5 months and 18 days go by.
xx Sarah
